Microsoft has announced the retirement of Outlook Lite, its streamlined email app for Android, effective October 6, 2025. Designed for low-resource devices and slow networks, Outlook Lite offered a minimalist experience with a tiny footprint, just 5MB and support for basic email functionality.
Microsoft is consolidating its mobile offerings to focus on the full-featured Outlook Mobile app, which supports:
- Microsoft 365 integration
- Third-party email accounts
- Copilot AI features
- Enhanced calendar and contact syncing
Maintaining two separate apps was slowing development, and the full Outlook app now performs well even on budget devices.
