Hi all,
So I’ve now finally got the Draytek Vigor 130 connected up and the ASUS router connected up.Β As mentioned, nothing needed doing to the Vigor 130, that just work out of the box (firmware was latest also).Β I can access modem via 192.168.2.1 now, on the dashboard page it shows current time as 2000 …….. how can i change this to be the current date/time?Β i thought it would pick it up when it connected but nothing so far.
I think maybe i missed the details of the IP address as I thought the router was on 192.168.1.1 but nope, then router.asus.com didn’t work so I ended up setting up the router via the mobile app, that went fine no issues but PC wasn’t connecting via LAN, i could access other lan devices i.e. network switch and then I saw on my phone the default IP seems to be 192.168.50.1 so I set my IP to a static IP in range, and then access router and make subsequent changes.
I’ve now setup a New SSID for use and used the old SSID for my IoT devices (easier than re-setting them all and setting them all up from scratch.Β My plan is, as they fail or need replacing, i’ll setup another WIFI specifically for them with a different name.
My router is now flashing a yellow exclamation sign saying firmware update available but I’m going to leave it for now and see how it goes before making any further changes.
Did a quick speed test and is about the same as BT box, i was hoping speed might improve a little but no worries, will need to see how modem fairs now and see if it drops etc.
I’m hoping better battery life as mobile devices will use WIFI 6 which is meant to use less battery so will see.
Many thanks for all the info and advice, much appreciated.
IF all ok by tomorrow, I might update the firmware then, will it keep my settings or set it back to default?
I’ve also left my BT router in place just incase major issue and I can revert back to how it was until more time to look at it.
Also, if anyone is interested, I currently have 23 devices connected (mix of lan & WIFI6/AC I suspect 2.4) and memory usage is 45% (567mb free out of 1GB) so not too bad, i’ve not setup or enabled anything other than adding a Guest WIFI network to it, everything else is out the box.Β The router is running 3.0.0.4.386_41535.Β Not sure what the current firmware version is, to determine how old this one is, but I’m hoping only 1 version behind but will check tomorrow as getting late now and been up since before 6am to go to work :(
Thanks
Kev
