For those Server bods amongst us whom are receiving the ‘the server you are connected to is using a security certificate that can not be verified’ message when you are trying to connect to your mail servers. certificate error messages.
As of September 2021, Let’s Encrypt have dropped support for their older root CA.
This change has resulted in a number of users encountering errors with their Mail Clients and browsers being unable to verify the server identity.There are two causes for this issue:
- If you have an older operating system, it may not support the new certificate type.
A list of supported operating systems can be found here:Â https://letsencrypt.org/docs/dst-root-ca-x3-expiration-september-2021/ - If your operating system does support the new certificate type, you will need to reissue the SSL certificate as per the guide below: ‘Contact your hosting provider for specific details’https://letsencrypt.org/docs/dst-root-ca-x3-expiration-september-2021/
