TP-Link has released a security advisory addressing a firmware vulnerability affecting several older router models.

Last updated: July 27, 2026

The issue, tracked as CVE-2026-12001, involves hardcoded credential information stored within the router firmware. If an attacker was able to obtain and analyse the firmware image, the embedded authentication data could potentially be recovered and used to gain unauthorised access to privileged functions on affected devices.

The vulnerability affects a limited number of TP-Link models:

• TL-WR845N V4
• TL-WR850N V3
• Archer C20 V6
• Archer MR200 V5

TP-Link has already released updated firmware versions that address the issue and recommends affected users update their devices.

The vulnerability has been rated Medium severity (CVSS 5.2), and there is currently no indication that it is being actively exploited. However, it highlights the importance of keeping home networking equipment updated, as routers remain a key target for attackers.
