    Hi all,

I’ve been considering getting a water leak detector which will alert me if I’m out of the house to a water leak.  Ideally, I’m looking for one which will send an alert to my phone and not have a audible alert as I don’t want it beeping all day if I’m not home.

I was looking at this: SmartThings Zigbee Water Sensor Smart Water Detector Reliable Alarm for Water Leakage Water Alarm, it would appear it requires a SmartThings hub which Samsung used to do but I believe Aeotec have started to do them now? (Aeotec Smart Home Hub – UK version)

Anyone used these at all? they seemed to have mixed reviews.  From what i can tell, it looks like the detector will send a alert to my phone and doesn’t mention a audible sound.

I presume these can be accessed remotely from outside my home/WIFI i.e. if at work etc? to acknowledge the alert and then it will not alert again?

    Thanks

    Kev

I did look at this sort of option a few years ago for an elderly relative as they kept running the bath and not turning it off and bath had no overflow etc.

Is this for water on floor sensing you are looking at say in bathroom, or something more serious like a burst pipe anywhere in the house ?

Hi, Just looking for on the floor sensing i.e. fridge/freezer leaks for example.

Not looking for burst pipes or anything serious like that.

    Thanks

I used the Bosch equivalent a while ago and via App, worked well.

Yes, Aeotec does have an app, which is great, I believe you will need the Aeotec Smart Home Hub as this as you say, used to be manufactured by Samsung and then they pulled out and now Aeotec have the rights I believe.

No idea regarding the app giving an audio alarm.

Thanks, did the Bosch have a audible alarm or did it just send a notification to your mobile/tablet? If it was audible alert, could you silence it remotely i.e if you were out?

I’ll have to check the Bosch one out also if so and see how it compares.  Don’t really want the smartthings hub, ideally wanted a single device – the water leak detector and have it connect to WIFI and send notifications but i only saw the one i posted which has put me off slightly as means buying 2 devices and the smartthings hub isn’t overly cheap, just for it to manage 1 or maybe 2 water leak detectors at most.

    Thanks

My Bosch setup was the water leak unit and a separate smart home controller using an app via my mobile device.

I had mine configured for alerts via app but not audio, alas cannot remember if that option was available for audio on app.

An all in one unit does sound like what your are looking for, but given cost of a single water leak tester, finding a good all in one maybe difficult ?

Yes, so far I’ve not found one.  It seems some are just an alert (no notifications to app/phone) and others need a hub etc :(

Thanks for info, i’ll have to keep looking and decide if its worth doing.
