I read the other day a very interesting article regarding where Antivirus programs are made and does it really matter.
https://askbobrankin.com/where_is_your_antivirus_made.html
Given alsoΒ Bloomberg News recently published an article suggesting that Moscow-based antivirus developer Kaspersky Lab is a tool of Russiaβs FSB, maybe we should be a little more aware of whom we trust with protecting our online/digital experience. security etc.
It all comes down to trust I suppose and I was re-assured to see that an Antivirus malware program was made in the UK, ”Sophos”. (but no real idea if it is any good, or not)Β ;-)
The US seem to be the main player this market.

in my opinion if your normal Windows user best Anti Virus is Windows Defender … it got best compatibility with windows , good detection rate , low false positive rateΒ ,no annoyance, no extra bloatware includedΒ and absolutely free ……………..with combination of ASUS AiProtection it works very good for home users ………………

Agree totally, defence in depth (not putting all your eggs intoΒ a single basket) is a great way to reduce risk exposure, by not relying on a single solution
