So took the plunge yesterday during lockdown and ordered via Amazon the SanDisk SSD PLUS 1 TB Sata III 2.5 Inch Internal SSD, Up to 535 MB/s, Black for £73.99
Also ordered an Inateck SSD Mounting Bracket 2.5 to 3.5 with SATA Cable and Power Splitter Cable, ST1004 for £7.99 as don’t fancy upgrading sons PC over Xmas only to find power and SATA Data cables are to short etc.
I was thinking of re-using the original HD as an additional secondary storage device, but given my Son has only used 400Mb of his current disk and to save a little electricity, I think I will keep the old HD in a draw, as a backup.
I will before upgrade time how quickly Windows splash screen appears after pressing the power button and after the upgrade when the old 7200 RPM HD is removed and new SSD has been installed.
