Dirty Install: Flash firmware over the current version which should maintain current settings and should work as is. This is what I do unless I notice any issues at which point, I then perform a soft factory reset to see if issue remains.

Factory Reset – Soft: Β Resets your router to the factory default settings, you can Press and Hold the Reset button on your router. However, in some cases, this may not successfully reset the router to the default status and data can remain (logs).

Hard Factory Reset: Reset your router to the factory default settings, this should remove all logs and clear NVRAM (I believe)

Restore saved settings after you do a factory default reset is not ideal. The idea behind a factory default reset is to have your router start using a set of NEW default values. If you restore your saved settings, you will then overwrite those new default values with the old ones, you are then back to square one and maybe copy original issue also.
