So after a few days playing with our VacTidy V6 robot vacuum cleaner given we paid just £119, I am pleasantly surprised with both its cleaning performance for our hardwood flooring and the app.
Does not like socks left on the floor or laptop mouse wire which can get trapped in the roller and its wheels, but does manages to maneuver around slippers and shoes and piles of clothes (left pile of work clothes on floor for test purposes) well.
VacTidy V6 Positives:
- VacTidy App if free and only requires registration (email address and password)
- VacTidy App is simple in presentation, but seems to have all the basics covered, battery charge level, cleaning schedule history, schedules settings, spot cleaning, manual remote control directional control and has a nifty option to find the robot vacuum cleaner if it cannot be easily seen, or has stopped ‘positioning device’ which beeps.
- If the roller becomes jammed the VacTidy V6 stops and starts bleeping at which point you can go to the app which will alert you that problem is with roller.
- If the VacTidy V6 gets stuck on a ledge, after 30 seconds, its easily reverses off.
- vacuum mode via the app has three suction power levels.
- The VacTidy V6 comes with a handheld remote and batteries.
- VacTidy V6 transitions for Wooden floor to mats easily and back again.
- VacTidy V6 once power level reaches 20%, will automatically stop cleaning and start the procedure (journey) to return to the charging station to recharge.
VacTidy V6 Negatives:
- The VacTidy V6 is not gentle when it bumps into objects.
- The VacTidy V6 does not seem to like tracksuit or dressing gown type cords as they can get caught in the roller.
- Some areas it appears seem to get cleaned two or three times which is not logical.
- Cleaning cycle is a little random, but most areas do seem to get cleaned eventually.
- The VacTidy V6 does not have an intelligent room scanning option.
- Cleaning cycle on full suction power only last about 60 minuites.
- The VacTidy V6 does not seem to notify you when the dust collector (bin) is full.
Short video of the VacTidy V6 dancing with some electrical wires and I then set it to find its way back to the charge station (wires un-clipped from wall on purpose)

In a completely sane world, madness is the only freedom (J.G.Ballard).
