As a follow on, with some of the Samsung Blu-Ray players, this is a response from an US forum. and seems an firmware update is available to stop blu-ray players boot looping, but players are not online long enough to download fix (ironic) so you have to contact Samsung customer service and ship your BluRay player back to Samsung (free I believe) for update to be applied.
Note: many different Samsung models are effected by boot looping – some models are sold in the UK

The solution involves calling Samsung customer service, and giving the person the required information so they can e-mail you a prepaid UPS label. Just box up your unit, print and put the label on the box and drop it at a UPS location. I’m told you will get it back in five to seven days, free of charge, working and reset to factory settings. I believe they don’t want to post this information here because they are waiting for people to come to them. In my opinion, the fewer that do the less this boondoggle will cost them.
There will be no magical fix over the web as it takes about a minute for your bluray player to connect to the internet. As we all know here, they don’t stay on long enough for this to happen. This by the way, in case you had any doubts, is all their fault. They sent the firmware that caused the failure.
Good luck to you all.
