What Is the Cyber Resilience Act?
The Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) is the EU’s first comprehensive law mandating cybersecurity standards for all products with digital elements (PDEs)—including Wi-Fi routers, smart home hubs, and IoT devices.
- Adopted: November 2024
- In force: December 2024
- Key enforcement dates:
- June 11, 2026: EU member states must appoint conformity assessment bodies
- December 11, 2027: Full compliance required for most products.

- UK consumers won’t be directly affected by the EU CRA, but many routers sold in the UK are also sold in the EU—so manufacturers may apply CRA standards globally.
- UK vendors exporting to the EU must comply with CRA requirements to maintain market access.
