So my daughters Fiat 500 high level (tailgate) brake light stopped working and only noticed it over the weekend, so replaced bulb and checked fuses (even though the other two side brake lights were still ok) but still no luck, so after getting out a voltmeter and circuit tester, it seemed wiring loom was faulty.
So pulled back the wiring loom cover from the Tailgate and sure enough, one of the wires was stretched and had separated (maybe a previous repair gone bad) and I also noted another previous repair (heat shrink sleave) on a different wire, so thought that was interesting.
Luckily an easy fix with new piece of wire to bridge the gap and a soldering iron and a wire heat shrink sleave to make good the joint and keep it insulated.
After looking online, seems a common problem with older Fiats but easy fix for the DIY-er.
