A new wave of attacks is targeting Fortinet firewalls and VPN gateways, prompting the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to issue an urgent advisory. Threat actors are using leaked credentials and automated login attempts to break into exposed FortiGate devices, giving them a potential foothold inside corporate networks.
The leaked data includes tens of thousands of device credentials, and attackers are actively scanning the internet for systems that still allow password‑only access or have management interfaces exposed online. Once inside, they can create hidden admin accounts, steal configuration files, disable logs, and move deeper into internal systems.
