Hi,
What’s a reasonable gfx card to buy at the moment? I have a GTX 660, however my MB complained about it when initially booted up but since has not, but I understand it may have dropped out of scope for Win 11 etc as it is quiet a few years old.
Ideally, don’t want to spend more than £200, I don’t really game much these days so its used for PC and for a mac mini I have (again that’s quiet old too but can’t justify the approx. £700 to get a replacement).
gfx car would need to have minimum of 1 x HDMI and 1 x display port as that’s what my monitor has so gives me couple of options of how to connect it up (atm it uses display port and mac use HDMI).
Overall, I’ve always had nvidia gfx cards as opposed to ATI so would prefer to stay with nvidia.
Thanks all
Kev

February 1, 2022 at 9:18 pm #17503The GTX 660 is supported by windows 11- download latest driver from below link.
Given the lack of chipsets out in the real world, Graphics cards are very expensive and for £200, it will be a struggle to better what you have already

Edit: AMD type GPU do seem to offer better value.

Prices will go down again someday and cards get better too.I bought my 50% faster GTX-1050TI used for 80€ just at the beginning of covid, now they are sold used for 150.

February 2, 2022 at 11:20 am #17512The only way to try and ‘avoid’ scalper prices currently is pre-built. GPU’s are extortionately priced and will take time to come down again. Stick with what you have if possible otherwise look at RTX3050 at msrp.

February 2, 2022 at 7:25 pm #17527Thanks all, will see how it goes then. At times I hear the fans etc kick in a fair but when viewing say videos etc so hence thought would be my gfx card struggling but will see how it goes.
New case arrived today so will likely swap the bits over the weekend and see what its like then.
