Well it may sound strange, but if you spill your milky coffee / tea with sugar all over your shinny new laptop, then the sugar may crystallize and the milk has soluble fats which between them will kill your laptop by creating hotspots and electrical tracks that will remain even after initial liquid has evaporated which could have short the motherboard etc.
Not forgetting the original coffee drink is mostly water, so chances of your laptop surviving the reboot is not looking good either
