So one of our family members windows laptops (Lenovo Yoga 520-14ikb) battery has not been lasting a full day at UNI, it has in the past, so thought I would create a thread for this as maybe useful for others.
So firstly, checked the battery health to see how much as a percentage the battery is retaining its charge using the free ‘Nirsoft battery info view’ – http://www.nirsoft.net
Laptop battery health was reported at 54%, so battery is retaining just over half of its potential capacity after a full charge which is not ideal and needs to be replaced.
So powered down Lenovo laptop and removed the 10 screws on the back cover and gently, using a plastic blade, eased the rear cover from the Lenovo laptop.
Once back cover was removed, it was easy to identify which type of battery the laptop used and voltage (there are three types of fitting) and from the battery my battery type / serial number was L15L2PB1 – so I ordered a new one which took around 2 weeks to arrive.
Picture below Shows mounted battery in Lenovo laptop and the mounting points (3 x RED circles) suitable for our Lenovo yoga 520-14ikb laptop.
Note:
Red Circles – shows battery retaining points
Blue Circle – shows battery power connector
Green Arrow – shows small red cable that must be unhooked from battery before removal
L15L2PB1 Battery removed from laptop:
Adding the new battery is basically just the reverse of removing the original laptop battery
New Lenovo yoga 520-14ikb battery health (100%) which is great as they usually arrive at around 95-98% dependent on how long they have been in storage etc.
Note: for those more observant amongst you, the new battery is 30Wh compared to the original, which was 35Wh, the new L15L2PB1 battery was on offer so could not resist
