So for the last couple of weeks (probable more like 4 ) I have been testing why UKTechHub has been slow for page loads for Logged In Forum members.

At last I believe the issue is actually the option I use to notify logged in users about new posts which they have not yet viewed.

I previously tested this Theory a couple of weeks ago also and found the same results so I have disabled this option (for testing again) and so far page loads are at least 1 second quicker.

I appreciate (@Grisu) you may miss this option, but I will be speaking with the developer to see if this issue can be improved.

From my perspective, page loads speeds effects Google and Bing Ranking as a slow page does not rank well with Google.

    R.I.P for now

@Grisu and Et al – I have an option I am testing in that when a new Post or Reply is created, the colour in the Main Forum topic main title text font is Black, but once the Post or Reply has been viewed, the colour of the Forum topic main title text font changes to Green.

This hopefully gives an indication of which Posts / Replies have been viewed by forum users and also seems to have no real impact of Forums display speeds etc. (no frame resizing adjustments needed).

I cannot change Forum topic main title text font thickness between Read and Unread Posts and Replies, but happy to play with alternative colours to separate Posts that have been Read and Posts that are yet to be Viewed etc.

I can change unread font colour to dark Black and read text to Grey, which is more traditional, but I know how much you dislike Grey

    What do you think ?

    Better again now!

Maybe some light backgroud colour would make it even easier.

Is there no option for bold?
Like seen here in another forum attached.

Why can’t we insert pictures or easier screenshot (not full screen) like you can do in your postings?

And I dont see previously inserted attachments when I edit a post, so can’t even delete or replace a pic (.jpg).

To place image in actual post, after you have added image as attachment, copy attachments URL and place in post.

Alas, currently Font thickness cannot be changed, but I will check with developer, as limitation of tool I am using, colours can be changed.

Is Green font a good or is Grey a better option for viewed replies ? (I will set Grey now so you can compare both options)

Ok, so have taken this option offline for a while until bugs I have found are resolved.

Alas, seems to work, for both logged in forum members as well as visitors, which was not my intent and I missed this initially due to page cache-ing etc.

I would colour unread postings and let others as they are.
But only because I believe I am more used to it.

Quite complicated to post pictures directly in an answer.
And doesnt solve the problem, that I dont see attachments when editing an answer.

As you can see here, there isnt shown my uploaded screenshot in this answer, you can only see it in read mode, not in edit mode.

@Grisu, understood and will look into this also

Edit: to show show how many attachments a forum member already has added when a post/reply is edited will require me to upgrade a plugin license. The cost is ($199) for lifetime of forum, alas at this stage this is something I am unwilling to pay for at the moment.

Fortunately, by hovering over a previous attachment you have added will allow you to see and copy the required URL, so for now this is the best option until I win the lottery and can build the perfect mega-forum

I have re-enabled the ‘Unread Post’ notification option which now uses an icon to notify forum members that there are posts that have not been viewed /read.

Enabling this option does slow down web page load time, but the new icon seems to be the most optimal I have tested so far.

Only outstanding issue is that when a forum member logs out from the forum, the ‘Mark all Topics as Read‘ green box remains and I have asked the developer for guidance .

Note: the ‘Unread Post’ icon option can be disabled for your forum login profile (account) if you go to Edit my Profile’ in the Top Menu and select ‘Do not Display Unread Icons’.
