Had fun the other days setting up a friends sky FTTH (full fibre) and thought I would capture settings I used to connect a TP-Link Aginet EX220 AX1800 with Sky Broadband (full fibre) in the UK.
The TP-Link Aginet EX220 AX1800 is a Wi-Fi 6 router that can deliver faster speeds, better coverage, and support for EasyMesh and TR-069 remote management. But how you integrate it with your Sky broadband depends on whether you’re on FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) or FTTP/H (Full Fibre to the Premises/Home). Here’s how to set it up in FTTP/H (Full Fibre to the Premises/Home):
FTTP (Sky Full Fibre)
If you’re on FTTP and have an Openreach ONT installed, you’re in luck: Sky FTTP uses DHCP (IPoE) and does not require authentication like MER.
Setup Instructions:
- Plug the EX220’s WAN port directly into the ONT.
- In the EX220’s settings:
- Set WAN type to Dynamic IP.
- Disable VLAN tagging or IPTV (Sky doesn’t use it for FTTP).
- Save and reboot.
Benefits:
- Cleaner network setup without double NAT.
- Full control over your LAN and Wi-Fi settings.
- No need for Option 61 strings or MAC cloning.
In a completely sane world, madness is the only freedom (J.G.Ballard).
