Seems that the recent Virgin Media Hub 5 Firmware Upgrade LG-RDK_7.6.15-2306.5 has impacted the 2.5Gb port.

Also unsure if this latest release has resolved the earlier energy efficient Ethernet problem which has caused some issues with third party switches.
