Just read this on the BBC –
Vodafone has signed new deals with CityFibre and Openreach which it claims will make it the largest provider of full fibre broadband in the UK.
Eight million UK residents will have access to its service by Spring 2022.
The agreement with Vodafone will support CityFibre’s pledge to reach 285 cities, towns and villages by 2025, in the UK.
Analysts say the move should be good for consumers, as other providers push to have a similar reach.
Vodafone first partnered with CityFibre in 2017, in a deal thought to be worth around £500 million.
The “alt-network” is the largest company outside of the main telecom giants to lay fibre in the UK in recent years, with around 50 internet providers currently making use of its infrastructure.

November 15, 2021 at 7:21 pm #16284November 15, 2021 at 7:22 pm #16285I’m trying to find a provider I can move to for FTTP when current contract ends as BT want to charge me for the BT line (even if i don’t have a number) plus the fibre so i want to move to a provider whereby I’m only paying for the FTTP and no line meaning like 20-30 quid, not best part 50 quid.

February 11, 2022 at 9:19 am #17732Hi,
Just seen Vodafone are offering superfast broadband 100mbps (guarantee of 50mbps) and a pretty good price.
Anyone know if this is FTTH or FTTP?
Thanks

February 11, 2022 at 10:12 am #17737Vodafone use both Fibre and/or DSL cable for there connections, they piggy back of others.
“Superfast” = FTTC/P
“Gigafast” = FTTP via Openreach or Cityfibre
So really depends what is enabled in your area already

February 11, 2022 at 1:49 pm #17739I have FTTP available in my area but Vodaphone’s description is a bit vague on there website so hence the question as unsure.. I thought FTTC could only go to 76/80mbps and above that was FTTP, usually 145mbps but them advertising 100mbps doesn’t quiet fall in either of the above so hence wasn’t sure, maybe it is just FTTC and not full FTTP with ONT box.
I presume can still use my existing Draytek 130 modem etc?

Draytek 130 will be fine with a FTTC connection.
There add is Guaranteed 50 Mbps upto 100 Mbps, so depends what is already in your area (FTTC-FTTH/P), the add does not guarantee 100 Mbps for all, hence the Guaranteed 50 Mbps for those that have FTTC only.
Just sales stuff really

February 11, 2022 at 3:21 pm #17742I tried looking a bit more, on vodafone forum, it indicates superfast1 & 2 is FTTC but superfast 100 is FTTP from what I can gather so seems strange they offer 100mbps max but guarantee 50mbps if its FTTP, no one else is sharing the connection?
Price is appealing for FTTP (if it truly is FTTP) but slight concerned over the odd 100mbps instead of the standard 145/150… seems a bit suspect some how…

March 21, 2022 at 8:52 pm #18334re-looking at this as BT keep advising to renew lol
Vodafone still cheap, been on there chat, asked the Q re is Vodafone Superfast 100 fttc or fttp, got immediately put in another queue, not one word typed, this person wanted to know what package type I had, I told him I don’t was looking to move, he now put me to a broadband sales team chat….. I get the feeling they can’t answer the question lol….
Still in the queue….
If Vodafone Superfast 100 is FTTP then it is way cheaper than any else I’ve seen.. fingers crossed…
Thanks

March 21, 2022 at 9:19 pm #18336So the answer is “it will 100 so will be considered full fibre so yes FTTP”….. I’m still not 100% sure lol
They checked my address to confirm i can get it but proceeded to offer me the Pro package at £10 more, once asked if the Vodafone Superfast 100 was available, it is and it is the price I thought so I guess only real way to know is to maybe phone them and query it before I take the plunge… the price seems cheaper than anyone else so there must be a catch somewhere..
Never been with vodaphone for broadband so need to see if it is any good, BT has been fine, no outages, when power goes out, it always comes back up and online so overall its been very good, shame to move away from a hassle free setup but the prices are getting a bit high, my new price is over £10 a month more for the same package plus I need to pay line rental (I pay this upfront) … or for an extra £3 I could get FTTP BUT with other costs increasing etc and the fact the package is a 2 year contract, I can’t really justify it for my usage. If I could not pay the line rental, then it’s worth it but at the moment, BT price is the same with or without a land line so essentially I’m still paying line rental so makes it too pricey.

March 27, 2022 at 3:01 pm #18423Hi all,
Just to update, I’ve been on to BT and I’ve signed up to them and been told I won’t be impacted by price rise, the new price quoted will be what I pay with potential increase in 2023 but not in 2022.
Thanks all
Kev
