Sorry if I was confusing!Β I have a BT line to the house.Β Our telephone number (and associated internet account) is on that line.
If you port a BT number to a VOIP service, all services associated with that line are deactivated; I would lose internet and phone.
To keep my number to use on VOIP I must get a 2nd phone line, THEN port the ORIGINAL number to VOIP, so I don’t lose internet.Β I have not ported number, and so currently have 2 numbers in use on the 7490 – analogue (original number) and VOIP.
In my effort to save money, I’ve purchased a router (7530 – internet and VOIP) that can’t be utilised as a direct replacement to the 7490 (which has the incoming BT line for phone and internet).
Original plan was just to update hardware (7490), and perhaps utilise that previous hardware (7490) as a Mesh repeater.Β Β Since nothing has failed with the original hardware, I can use the 7530 as the repeater (via wifi or powerline, I don’t have lan cable yet).
I had intended to use the 7530 for internet only, and perhaps the 7490/7360 for handling analogue phone line as a workaround, but I might as well leave the 7490 in place as master, 7530 as a repeater, and my 7360 as spare whatever.
If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!
