Hi,

Apologies, looks like I missed your reply and was just looking at this thread.

So to recap, I setup the new drives in a new volume on the NAS and it consists of 2 x WD40EFZX and 1 x WD40EFRX drive and so far, no issues.  No errors on the drives, all seems ok.

However, I have just received a report advising of : Drive reconnection count: 1 for one of my WD40ERFX drives in the first volume (all drives are the same except for the last part, the drive reporting reconnection count: 1 is a 68WT0N0 whereas the others are 68N32N0.

I’ve started a extended smart test of the drive but the initial indication is it will take approx. 10hrs to complete so I’ll look at it tomorrow and see what it says.

upon looking online, some say run extended smart test, if number goes up, replace the drive, if it doesn’t basically don’t worry too much about it.  Alternative suggestion is replace the drive, if get a count again on replace drive, it is likely not the drive but the nas itself.

So going to see what the smart test says and then decided do I want to buy anther drive or not… plus I need to find the right ones again :)

Not noticed any real difference in performance but then this error was only reported today so will have to wait and see.

On previous nas I had this error on a different drive bay and i replaced and that’s been fine (when i got new nas, I put the drives in same order) and still no issues.

Only thing happened to NAS recently is a update in the software to a new version (new gui etc) so bit of a bigish update and someone else reported a error with a drive after the update of nas so coincidence? not sure.

Time will tell.
