Like you originally, I still feel that the maybe faulty drive should still work but will be interesting to see when the replacement arrives ?
HDD are fairly robust as is Hardware RAID 5.
FYI: CRC error count is just an indicator for where there is a communication problem between the controller and the drive, so worth checking cables and ports etc. the error counter is never reset during the lifetime of the drive. As long as the counter isn’t increasing, then you’re fine I believe. (been a while it has since I was involved with this type of kit)
