it could help,  the DSL-N16 is an old model and I seem to remember back in the day, on some ISP, the default 30a profile caused issues in certain countries exchanges/DSLAM, give it a try?

Edit: also try this option:

Go to wan> internet connection> edit
You will find a regulation that says
additional pppd options
Get the command
lcp-echo-interval 0
If 0 does not connect to your dslam  try instead 0, 30, 40, 60 but first 0
I believe that even if this method does not help, it may help reduce your problem

Is QoS enabled? if so, disable and see ?

If the above does not stop problem, then we can assume issue is not DSL/synch related, which is harder to sort out.
