So I had a chat with a Server/Storage team today and whilst I was online, I asked them about your Cache cards and redundancy etc.

Firstly, they said – Need to have a UPS….

Then as far as the cache card, the M2D20 is better as it has a larger heatsink and can handle much more data read/writes than the M2D18 etc.

The guys did say, that if the cache card writes data to the SSD ( PCIe Cache disks) , then if power drops, data (cache) written to the SSD should remain.

But often, if power drops for any reason, this can cause SSD disk failures and corruptions etc, then this is when cache written to SSD could be lost.

It was a high lever conversation but did sound as though if power does drop, in theory, the cache should not be lost if it has been written to the cache SSD disks

A UPS will enable a safe and managed shutdown if power does drop and is highly advisable

Hope that helps and I will add it to your bill
