So have had feedback from ASUS and they say, some repeaters do change the Mac address of the clients and you need to check to see if this is the case.

Also check to see if end TP-Link clients are receiving same IP address range as that of the ASUS router.

In reality, as @Grisu mentioned, try connecting via wireless between Asus RT-AX58U and TP-LINK RE700X and see if that helps.

Alternatively, if the TP-LINK RE700X is only used by your Son, try applying the controls to the TP-LINK RE700X itself.

Otherwise, you are left only with purchasing an ASUS AiMesh compatible router and then you can be assured, Time Scheduling and Parental controls should work.
