It appears impossible to buy a G.Fast modem at present.
I’ve tried all sorts of suppliers on Alibaba, AliExpress, GearBest, DHGate etc. many of whom claim to sell the Huawei MT992 or the Zyxel/Zisa equivalents. None of them, not a single one has ever been able to supply. Nor are they able to answer why they are offering/advertising something for sale if it’s unavailable. Minimum order quantities have never been the issue, the existence of the product has.
Draytek’s estimate of Q2/Q3 for the 166 looks wildly optimistic, I don’t think anyone has seen one in the wild yet.
I really hope some sensible options emerge soon. I don’t like Draytek kit, never have, never will so hope there is at least one alternative to the 166.
