That does make sense that the Asuswrt-Merlin firmware had no impact on your DSL line faults.
Yes your Interleaving has kicked in, it is not a happy ECI DSLAM or DSL line.
Did you ever try your BT HG612 modem, or is my memory fading as given the long history with your line a Broadcom DSL chipset is more forgiving ;-)
