Ok, so had a chat with ASUS and it appears that a code blob (element-module) is at fault, moreover this blob is also shared amongst other ASUS RT routers, so a recent new fault to ASUS.
ASUS have kindly created a new firmware build which includes an updated code blob to resolve the above issues
