    Hi,

Been considering a 2nd monitor or a while but due to size and desk space, not overly practical to have setup permanently hence have shelved the idea for now.

However, I have just seem some 2nd screens similar to these: They also do a 15.6″ one but no power button.Β  Anyone any opinions or used these at all?

Looks like has a full size HDMI port as my PC only has HDMI or DP (even new gfx card doesn’t have USB-C port) just thought might be handy to put up when needed and display say a video a web site whilst then working on main screen?

    Thanks

    Kev

I have seen these before and been in offices where laptops users have had a second screen like these etc.

Very portable and compact and has speakers, so a great idea if your Β not bothered to much about screen image quality etc. like some gamers might be.

Thanks, most of those i’m seeing say they are FHD 1080p so was expecting image to be ok? Also just seen this:

HANNspree HT225HPB 1080p Full HD 21.5 Inch Anti Glare HS-IPS Touch Screen Monitor with HDMI, DisplayPort Connectivity – Black

appears to have a bar that come down to support monitor as opposed to traditional stand.Β  Advantage is its bigger and more like a peroper monitor BUTΒ  could be removed but a bit bigger to stope, no so easy to place in a draw/shelf/on top of a cabinet/bookcase etc.

Here is another FHD 1080p 15.6 looks not too bad, higher price though..

Also a 15.6″ version of first monitor linked…

Lots of choice, should be ok but at those prices colour tones and white balance can sometimes be obvious.

bit for those prices you cannot expect to much

15.6” is huge for a display like that, for that size I would get a tv wall bracket and hang it on the wall if pos Β ?

yes, only issue with wall mounting is if you ever want to move it or re-arrange room, you left with holes so trying to avoid that..

HI, so still looking at these but soo many choices… did see one but someone said only menu was touch screen.. so no good. Plus seen lots of unknown brands so makes me a bit unsure also.

Have seen this one – verbatim PMT-15 – what do you think? It seems to imply if using with a PC you need to use USBC-USB and HDMI but my PC has a USB-C 3.2 port on it so I’m thinking that should be the same as effectively a laptop right? only need USB-C to USB-c.

The fun part will be, will it with along side my gfx card?Β  I recall previously adding a gfx card disabled onboard graphics but not sure these days as not upgraded my other PC so 10 years or so could all of changed.

I had a quick look at Amazon and one review did state “To connect it to a PC, the HDMI cable and the USB C cable must be connected. Otherwise it won’t work”

Yeah, I’m thinking that’s because most PC’s don’t have USB-C ports – they have either VGA, HDMI, display port or DVI? If I have a USB-C 3.2 port, it should work right, just with the USB-C cable? I’ll probably have to buy a longer cable as it has to go from my desktop PC up and over to where I sit but I’ll be able to test it with the provided cable just to be sure first. Perhaps i should drop them a mgs.?

Just had a look at the quick start guide, implies can connect laptop or PC via USB-c?

Great news, you’ll have to purchase the verbatim PMT-15 and report back for us all to know for sure

Usually you can set in BIOS whether internal graphics are turned off or not and working together with graphics card.

Was looking at this again and now having a re-think…… The screen doesn’t seem too bad, however, I’d have to get a 3m cable and that’s where the issue arises, they want over Β£60 for a USB-C to USB-C capable cable…… which then brings the total cost to higher than I was expecting…. the monitor was already a bit pricey considering its size etc and I was expecting another 10 quid or so for a cable.. but appears not…. so not sure it’s worth it as at that price, i might as well just buy a normal monitor, just issue is space, ideally would need a monitor arm to loose the stand but will have to look at how big the standards are etc…
