Owners of NETGEAR’s Orbi 750, 840, and 850 mesh systems should be aware of a recently confirmed firmware issue affecting automatic updates. According to NETGEAR, devices running firmware 4.6.X.X or older may fail to auto‑update, leaving systems stuck on outdated software unless users intervene manually.
What’s Affected
- RBR750 / RBS750
- RBR840 / RBS840
- RBR850 / RBS850
These models may not receive new firmware automatically, even if auto‑update is enabled.
What NETGEAR Recommends
NETGEAR advises users to perform a manual firmware update, and importantly, to update satellites before updating the router. This order prevents sync problems that some users have already reported.
