So had feedback from ASUS and the DSL-AX82U is not EoL, the teams are busy with wifi 7 models so early second half of this year is looking more likely, I will keep pushing for firmer ETA.

June 24, 2024 at 12:52 am #32613Hi;
From the Firmware upgrade tab screen you uploaded it looked like auto upgrade and security both had on – off switches, do they not work?
I ask because the retention of the check availability button + beta search switch suggests the only intention is a layout change and therefore that maybe those buttons should work?
All the best

June 24, 2024 at 6:56 am #32615If anybody else has issues with their DSL-AX82U and the Disable AutoFW Upgrade button not working, can you send a Feedback form via the DSL-AX82U UI explaining this issue, I will ask ASUS in the back ground also

August 25, 2024 at 12:24 pm #33439Is it only this page, or other pages also, or is also when certain clients connect online ?
Sounds like the watchdog keep restarting httpd, but not sure why ?
Alas if you used this access method before (HTTP) and it worked then unfortunately a factory reset is the best next step and rebuild router config from scratch, not from backup.

September 3, 2024 at 10:58 am #33627Just seen this publication from ASUS, seems the DSL-AX82U EoL (end of life) is supported until 31th December 2025 at least for the UK.
Handy to know

Welcome, I did ask ASUS a while ago as to plans beyond the DSL-AX82U and at the time they had (or did not wish to tell me) no new DSL routers beyond the DSL-AX82U.
But I will ask ASUS again as plans may have changed

Hopefully something ASUS may look at more seriously in the Spring of 2025

November 11, 2024 at 8:34 am #34810So a recent malware release has effected many ASUS RT routers and I have asked ASUS if the DSL-AX82U is impacted and when a security fix might be available for the DSL-AX82U.
ASUS said the DSL-AX82U is impacted and are working on a fix.
To reduce the exposure to this new ASUS router malware, until a fix has been released, ASUS have said to me, best to ….
- turn of AiCloud,
- disable WAN remote access etc.
- and also re-configure a strong, lengthy password.
This should help until a fix is released and change-log will look similar to below:
1. Strengthened input validation and data processing workflows to further protect information security.
2. Enhanced AiCloud password protection mechanisms, safeguarding against unauthorized access attempts.
3. Enhanced device security through improved buffer handling in connection features.
4. Refined data handling processes, ensuring secure and accurate information management.
5. Enhanced file access control mechanisms, promoting a more secure operating environment.
6. Strengthened certificate protection, providing enhanced data security. In a completely sane world, madness is the only freedom (J.G.Ballard).
