Another thing that make me doubt the links even more is that I don’t think ASUS are selling it yet.

Ok, so I have spoken with ASUS and they plan to release the DSL-AX82U sometime Q1/2021 and MSRP will be around USD$250.

Do you think the DSL-AX82U will work on a BT VDSL2 line?

My current router (a Draytek) shows my BT line as “VDSL2, Profile 17A, Annex A”.
I know Draytek work with BT VDSL2 but there is little sign of Draytek producing a WiFi 6 router.
The specs for the DSL-AX82U list only profile 35b and a lot of G99X.X numbers that I don’t fully understand.

Yes the  DSL-AX82U should work well on any BT ADSL / VDSL2 service, alas the DSL-AX82U will not support G.fast but for you this does not seem to be  a concern

FYI – on BT VDSL2, the important standard is G.998.4 (G.INP) which if you are connected to a Huawei Cabinet, will enable you to have a slightly higher synch rate (more bandwidth) than expected

so finally got the nod to release a few pictures of my DSL-AX82U, will post a video over weekend etc.

Pictures are of box with specifications etc. (good reference point) incase you are tempted or duped into purchasing a cheap fake alternative. (hence why images are not HD)

Must say, the DSL-AX82U feels a solid unit with a smaller footprint than the DSL-AC88U, also unlike DSL-AC88U, the antennas with DSL-AX82U  feel far more secure.
