I have a ASUS RT-AC86U . connected to broadband fine through am openreach modem .
Have setup guest access for internet only , when I setup the router to connect to a VPN service as a client
everything on the intranet side has internet access , but the guest access loses internet access .
Any help would be much appreciated

On the Guest Wifi page should be (I think) an option called Access Intranet, try toggling between Enable / Disable to see if that works ?
If you want all the bells and whistles, there is an alternative firmware for the RT-AC86U called ASUSWRT-Merlin and that uses YazFi which gives you so much more control of VPN and Guest wifi access etc?
ASUSWRT-Merlin YazFi

Yes the ASUSWRT-Merlin firmware and then install YazFi gives me the function I needed , Thank you
Don’t know why the stock firmware doesn’t default to internet connection when then VPN is active .
