ASUS has revealed the ROG Rapture GT-BN98 Pro, claiming the title of the world’s first Wi-Fi 8 gaming router. Designed for next-generation networking, the router offers theoretical wireless speeds of up to 30 Gbps, dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, and a new active cooling system to help maintain peak performance during heavy workloads.
The GT-BN98 Pro is based on the upcoming Wi-Fi 8 standard, which focuses on improving reliability, reducing latency, and increasing real-world performance in busy wireless environments. ASUS says the router’s active cooling solution helps prevent thermal throttling, ensuring consistent speeds for gaming, streaming, and high-bandwidth applications.
While Wi-Fi 8 devices are still some way from becoming mainstream, the GT-BN98 Pro offers an early glimpse at the future of home networking. Pricing and availability have yet to be announced.
