Te URL https://www.asus.com/supportonly does not map to anything on ASUS website, alas you need to use https://www.asus.com/supportonly/zenwifi%20pro%20et12/helpdesk_bios/   or similar.

I did contact ASUS last week asking if the ASUS ZenWiFi Pro ET12 was ever going to receive ASUS WRT 5.0 but I have not had any feedback as yet.

I will chase them again next week

Hi, any idea when release 3.0.0.6.102 will be available for ET12?

    Thanks

ASUS have come back to me and for the ASUS ZenWiFi Pro ET12, ASUS plan to upgrade to ASUSWRT 5.0 next year.

No specific dates at the moment but at least we now know the ASUS ZenWiFi Pro ET12 will receive ASUSWRT 5.0 at some point

Thanks for the ‘good’ news, ASUS seem to be very tardy with their support for their top WiFi 6E router. I will bear this in mind when it comes time to upgrade to a WiFi 7 router (maybe buy a volume seller which gets more support!!).

Just another question, I have 3 x ET12s and 7 x XD4s, so if the ET12s gets upgraded to ASUSWRT 5.0 will the XD4s still function OK with ASUSWRT 4.0?

That is a very interesting question and to be honest, I do not know.

I will drop ASUS a message and ask the if ASUSWRT 5 as an AiMesh Primary will work with ASUSWRT 4 AiMesh nodes in a wireless configuration and what if any restrictions / limitations will result.

ASUS have kindly come back to me and said that ASUSWRT 5 and ASUSWRT 4 as an Aimesh Primary / Node using wireless backhaul will work.

However, there is a limitation regarding VLAN since ASUSWRT 4 does not support multiple VLANs on the LAN, unlike  ASUSWRT 5 which does, only the main LAN will be compatible.

Thanks for getting an answer from ASUS. However, all the nodes have wired backhaul, so does this make a difference?

Regarding the VLANs, does this mean I won’t have Guest Network Pro with IoT WiFi, which is a major feature of ASUSWRT 5?

Finally, will you be starting an ASUS WiFi 7 thread?

    Thanks

Makes no difference, functionality for Wired and Wireless will be the same.

Not sure what you mean, when your ET12 finally receives ASUSWRT 5 build, then Guest Network Pro should be available then for the ET12. The challenge will be your XD4s which will only be using ASUSWRT 4.

Nothing Planned at the moment but you are welcome to create the thread yourself if you wish or I can if you let me know which ASUS Wifi 7 model you are looking at in particular.

I can confirm the VLAN statement.  I bought a BE96u as a main router for my 3 ET12’s nodes.  With the latest version of 388 my iot devices just pull an ip address from the main dhcp pool.  When I down/up graded to the 9.0.0.6.102 beta version for the ET12’s, the vlans worked.  It seems stable enough at this point to work with until the 3.0.0.6 comes out for the ET12’s.  I’m running about 120 hosts across the IoT and main network.

    Hi

I just replaced my router with this Asus. Can someone explain how (where?) I can turn off the wifi please?

I’m not a big expert in router settings and I was looking for a fairly simple option in the settings (like a wifi off menu:)but I didn’t find any.

Before you ask why I want it: Because I don’t have a WiFi 7 compatible device yet and I’m using a Home Mesh system. So I don’t need the router’s WiFi.

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards

Welcome, To turn off the WiFi on a ZenWiFi ET12, access your router’s settings page through a web browser, navigate to the “Wireless” section, and then toggle the “Enable Radio” option to “No” for the desired frequency band (2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz etc.) to disable the relevant wifi signal.

You can also use the ASUS Router app to manage WiFi settings.

For clarity the Zenwifi ET12 isn’t a wifi 7 device it is wifi 6e.  Hope you were able to find the wifi disable.  What mesh are you running behind?  I have 3 ET12 aimesh nodes behind my be96u and they seem to run really well.
