Hi @UK Sentinel – I have a mesh network with three ET12 and seven XD4 all hardwired connected to a 2.5 gb switch and a 1g internet connection. The ET12’s wired nodes keep dropping connections (the ET12 as the router is OK) showing a solid red LED. This is very frustrating and I couldn’t resolve the issue. Please let me know if you get an answer from ASUS.

There is a firmware Beta Version 9.0.0.6.102.3506 48.84 MB 2022/12/30 – do you imagine this will resolve the 388 FW issue or is it a hardware issue?

I also have another issue with an XD4 where intermittently the 1g wired connection drops to 10/100. Is this a related issue?

I would assume this is not a hardware issue as ASUS routers are usually well made.

I had a quick look at below link, seems the beta for ET12 you mention has no details of bug fixes, only new features, so unlikely to improve you connections

    https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/zenwifi%20pro%20et12/helpdesk_bios/

When I chat with ASUS next week, I will ask also for ET12

Edit: what happens if switch is removed, any change in ET12. I assume XD4 all work Ok and are wired also via switch, apart from the connection drops to 10/100 ?

    @nickholland

So I have touched base with ASUS and explained that a few of there ZenWifi models are having Wifi and Ethernet node issues with the 388 builds and screen shotted a few comments from this forum for there reference.

ASUS have said they would look into this but did not hint as to whether this was already a known problem to them

    Hi @UK Sentinel,

Thanks for the suggestions and your follow-up with ASUS. I followed your suggestion and made the following hardwired connections: ISP modem / router in Bridge Mode to ET12 in AiMesh Router Mode to ET12 in AiMesh Node Mode. The connection still failed after some hours but the LED on the node stayed white instead of red, but in the Web GUI the node was shown as disconnected. The issue with the XD4 dropping to 10/100 was also caused by the ET12. Rebooting the XD4 made no difference, but rebooting the ET12 fixed the issue. I also had issues with some IOT 2.4GHz not connecting to the nearest node, so I increased the dBm from -70 to -60 in Roaming Assistant. I also found that disabling the WMM APSD helped with the IOT connection stability. I also enabled the Reboot Scheduler to reboot every morning, but it didn’t completely resolve the ET12 node disconnection issue, so I downgraded the firmware on all three ET12s to release 386.48823 and it has been reliable so far (all the XD4s are also on release 386).

Your problem is interesting as you are on Ethernet Backhaul, with ET12 release 386.48823, are the XD4s which are on a 368 release now stable ?

Since the automatic reboot at 07:45 CET, the system has been stable including the XD4s on release 386.49599.

Is it worthwhile or necessary for me to raise this issue directly with ASUS?

    Thanks

I may have missed this bit, but what happens if you disable the daily automatic reboot, how long does node stability last now that the ET12’s are all release 386.48823?

I have not tried without the daily automatic reboot since the firmware downgrade. Daily automatic reboot is now switched off and the node stability is currently 10 hours!! I will keep you informed.

Will be an interesting test and hopefully verification that the 386 build is indeed stable for wired backhaul with the ET12s  and XD4s

The stability is great. Now 82 hours without an issue and 88 devices connected. Is it worthwhile for me to raise this as a separate ethernet backhaul issue with ASUS for release 388.22127?
