Unfortunately I am on a ECI cabinet I have the AX RT-82u and an old BT modem as my set-up on talktalk at the moment,
I am looking for a bit of help will the DSL AX 82 version work well on a ECI cabinet or is it best to stick with my current set up, as I was going to use the other as AI mesh.
I have heard some modems do not like BT ECI cabinets and will keep dropping the connection
Any help on this will be appreciated they are great routers so want to pair with the modem version and update the whole network

May 10, 2021 at 5:43 am #13227Welcome, yes you have lucked out with the ECI cabinet as these currently do not support G.INP
If you planned just to keep your existing RT-AX82U, then I would say purchase a new modem (vigor 130) and that should help by replacing you older modem and be the less expensive option.
Or….
If you are planning to go AiMesh, then in theory the new DSL-AX82U used as AiMesh Primary and your rt-X82u used as Node (Child) should work very well, alas the dsl-AX82U is still very new so firmware needs to mature.
Both Broadcom and Lantiq DSl chipset work well on ECI cabs, Broadcom is usually rock solid and that is what the DSL-AX82U has
Hope that helps
(P.S) what a game between City ;-)

May 10, 2021 at 11:07 am #13236Thank you for your reply uk-sentinel I will go the DSL route as I would have to buy another node anyway, One thing I will say about the AX82u it squeezed another 5MBps out of my line was getting 40 down on netgear x6 r8000 now getting 45, and I love the settings page the only thing I do not like is you can not all block new connections

May 10, 2021 at 1:50 pm #13243so have you purchased the DSl-AX82U already ? or was the RT-AX82u so good it outperformed your Netgear x6 r8000 ?
Luckily Mendi managed to get back to the centre of the goal mouth, he is good

Understood, hopefully with the DSL-AX82U, you might even get a little more synch speed from the DSL side also
