Seem’s British Gas at last has kicked off a price war for heat pumps as the drive to replace gas boilers gathers pace.
British Gas has set a starting price of £2,999 per install for an air source heat pump – which is £1 lower than the £3,000 starting prices for a standard installation offered by rival Octopus Energy.
This is great news as until recently, new heat pumps installations could cost upto £10,000, thank goodness for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.

How much does a heat pump cost supplied by British Gas ?
According to the British Gas website (above link), there prices start from £2,999 in England and Wales, which includes the government’s £5,000 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant. In Scotland, the £7,500 Home Energy Scotland grant means our prices start from £499
The exact cost will depend on how much extra work is needed to upgrade your home’s insulation, pipework and radiators. Once we know that, we’ll give you a fixed-price quote that covers everything.
