Hi all,
Anyone any recommendations for data removal service in UK? I have seen several by some only work in US etc.
For example is incogni any good? I’ve seen mixed reviews online so not too sure.
Want to try and reduce my spam mail and remove my details from data breeches by companies etc but don’t want to go broke doing it :) Incogni is bit pricey, Optery is another I seen buy some review said was for US people and UK was for UK businesses to use. Also how long should I sign up for to get my data removed i.e. I don’t want to sign up for 1 month if it will take several months and I don’t want to sign up for a year and they remove all my data within 1 month. I realise will be ongoing monitoring but I am informed when my data is leaked so I can sign up again then at a later date. I don’t want it to become another monthly/yearly expense, I’d soon pay to have it removed and then be done until a breech occurs again and then pay again if that’s at all possible.
Would be good to find a family one but if too price, I’ll just get individual one for now, try it out and then pay for family if suitable and have proven results.
Thanks
Kev

June 24, 2025 at 6:21 am #38089Tricky one as as you say, most are US focused.
I have seen Revoke (Revoke.com) which is UK based and £10 per month (ish) and I think you can cancel after the first month or two.
Another option I have seen is Rightly (Rightly.co.uk) which again provides a removal service and also monitoring.
Nice idea to use both options for a few month, that way you get a great head start in removing your digital footprint and it can take 1-3 months for initial data removal requests to propagate across all platforms and databases.

June 24, 2025 at 7:34 pm #38098I just checked, rightly.co.uk entered voluntary liquidation in April 2025 April 2025
But still on LinkedIn – https://www.linkedin.com/company/rightly/?originalSubdomain=uk
Also have URL but this also does not work https://right.ly

June 25, 2025 at 6:47 am #38099Bit stuck with choices you are unless your willing to pay the prices asked by Incogni etc. luckily Incogni offer monthly payment plans so after 3 months plans can be cancelled.
There is another option, Internet Erasure (UK-based) as you pay per removal.
Good for: High-value cases, not mass removal across hundreds of brokers.

Thanks, i saw the prices, £750 upwards, yikes too costly that but also seems more for ensuring certain types of records i.e a conviction, are removed across articles as opposed to just ensuring my personal info is not online or out on a list somewhere for it to be available to whoever via data breaches etc

June 25, 2025 at 7:58 pm #38105I’m tempted by incogni but looking at reviews, one thing concerned me. Someone said they signed up and incogni had sent something like 40 requests to different brokers to remove there data, one of them replied and copied in the actual person and they saw that the initial request to remove them contained there data, i.e. name, address, number etc and the broker replied saying they didn’t hold the data but effectively they have just given it all to them. o if they didn’t have it, they now did.
Slightly concerning, I was expecting them to have to give a name or a email etc to remove but not provide all the info as maybe the company only has a email for you but now they potentially have gained your address, number etc.
For some things I guess they need to provide this in order to get your info removed to prove you are the person but I was expecting them to only provide the info they needed i.e. if they only help a email address and name, specify the name and email only, they don’t need to know your phone number, address and whatever else they send them. Seems more of a blanket email to say remove any of this info you hold and they covered so to speak.
I’m basically wanting to reduce the spam email and calls I keep getting which has picked up in last few months, so much that I not have my mobile on silent for any number that calls that I don’t have in my my phone. Which is fine apart from when you are expecting a call from someone say a Doctor for instance and you don’t know what number they will call from, likely to be missed as silenced.

June 25, 2025 at 9:40 pm #38107To get your data removed, the data broker or company must know who you are, Usually, the removal request includes personal identifiers such as your name, email, address, phone number, or other details they hold.
Incogni sends multiple requests to different brokers on your behalf,
If a broker doesn’t have your data, they might reply “We don’t have this person’s data,” but the removal request itself often includes your full details to identify you.
So effectively, you might be sharing your full personal info with companies you never contacted yourself, just in the removal request.
This creates a risk: those companies may now have your info, even if they didn’t before.
Email is more tricky and Extensions like SpamAssassin, Mailwasher maybe an option ?
As an alternative …
Telephone Preference Service (TPS):
Register your phone numbers (landline and mobile) here to opt out of unsolicited sales and marketing calls:

Legitimate marketers must check the TPS list before calling.Mail Preference Service (MPS):
Register your postal addresses to reduce unsolicited mail:

Alas no perfect solution
