UKTechHub Facebook Login and Registration authentication certificate is not working.
I am currently looking into the problem and will keep this topic updated but I do wonder if Facebook or say LinkedIn registration option is really needed or just a nice to have ?

August 6, 2023 at 7:35 am #26272Thank you for feedback, I have noticed forums like, Kitz, Whirlpool and SNB Forums do not use a Social media login option, you just register with there sites directly also.
It might be as you say, people keeping logins for different sites separate and not trusting sharing credentials etc. across different platforms.

August 6, 2023 at 9:39 am #26275Same with me, would never use other accounts to login in a forum.
Even avoid pages if possible where this is mandatory (dont have fb/twitter at all, only google from mobile where it is a must have). You need to login in order to vote
August 6, 2023 at 9:47 am #26277August 6, 2023 at 1:15 pm #26289For UKTH (UKTechHub) forum members only, I have now added a poll at the beginning of this thread to see how others feel about using Social media accounts to log into forums etc.
Yes, No or Don’t mind is the three options I have created.

August 6, 2023 at 6:19 pm #26331Thanks again, I am inclined towards not re-enabling the Facebook Social login option, especially as this should help reduce the amount of false ‘attempted’ registration via the Social login app I currently use and avoid all the hassle I had to jump through with Facebook – Meta for Developers etc.
But will have to keep note on New forum registrations incase they reduce over time.

August 24, 2023 at 10:44 am #26597UKTechHub (UKTH) no longer supports forum access via Facebook.
If you have gained access to this forum in the past via Facebook, do not worry as when you registered via your Facebook social media account, your email was included in part of the registration process.
To regain access to your Forum account, simply go to …
http://www.uktechhub.com > Login and select ‘Forgot Password’ enter you email address and then click ‘Send’.
A password reset email will then be sent and follow the instruction in the email.

September 3, 2023 at 12:42 pm #26723It has been two weeks since we last had a new forum member register, I was averaging around 1 – 2 a week prior to the removal of the Facebook social media login option.
Will be keeping my eye on this scenario over the next couple of weeks but would hate for UKTechHub to not grow as a result, so may have to re-enable FB Login and maybe add Google Login option also.
On a positive, SPAM registrations have been reduced dramatically
