Thought I would write a short review over the next few days as I have purchased the LAUNCH CRP129I V2.0 OBD2 Scanner 4 System Car Diagnostic Tool with 12 Reset, Engine Transmission ABS SRS, Lifetime Free Update, ABS/SAS/Oil/BAT/DPF/TPMS Reset Auto VIN Diagnostic Machine for All Cars.
Cost around £200 with a discount and comes with a nice looking zipped case which keeps all leads and main OBD11 cables tidy.

June 14, 2025 at 9:16 am #38010I got this one some months ago, but still had no need to use it beside some initial functionality test, so I cant tell much more about it other than its much much cheaper.

June 14, 2025 at 1:04 pm #38011Thanks, we have a few cars in our family, extended family and friends group, so hopefully I can help and advise if/when needed

Will be fun plugging the LAUNCH CRP129I V2.0 OBD2 scanner in and checking out our cars, hopefully no big problems or it could get expensive

It is surprising as when I was looking for a OBD2 tool for a keen DIY car enthusiast, most are made in China and owned by Chinese manufacturers.

June 17, 2025 at 8:05 pm #38020Interesting, is there a full list of manufacturers supported? I found it on amazon and they list a few but not a comprehensive list.
For example – In my family/Friend circle, we have Fords, Audis, Peugeots, smart cars, VWs, just wondering if it will work with these. Also, I noticed it said from 1996-2004, will it get updates to support 2025 and future models or you need to buy the newer model when they are out?
Does it let you set some settings on/off? I recall BMW’s used to let you turn different settings on and off via one of these type things (Carly I believe it was), For example, change the mode the car started in.
Thanks

June 18, 2025 at 6:59 am #38021The LAUNCH CRP129X V2.0 was available July 2024 and comes with free lifetime updates.
OBD2 was first available as a standards for cars in the US in 1996 and the UK EOBD in 2001-2004 for petrol and diesel vehicles.
I’m away at the moment on holiday at Center Parcs and I will check which models are covered when I get back home and capture a few screen shots .

June 19, 2025 at 6:47 pm #38043June 21, 2025 at 4:45 pm #38048Alas no postcard but a screen shots of my new LAUNCH CRP129I V2.0 OBD2 scanner.
Fords, Audis, Peugeots, smart cars, VWs are covered with the OBD2 scanner but the level of customisation offered by Carly is far greater than that of the LAUNCH CRP129I .
Carly: (subscription)
- Designed for deep coding and customization
- Unlock hidden features (e.g. digital speed display, auto start/stop off)
- App-based with frequent updates for supported models
- Ideal for users wanting personalisation and advanced control
LAUNCH CRP129I V2.0 (one-off-cost)
- Primarily a professional diagnostic scanner
- Covers key systems: Engine, ABS, SRS, Transmission etc.
- Supports service resets (oil, EPB, SAS, throttle) etc.
- Supports a total or 81 different car brands (Ford, Bentley) etc.
