Now there exists a Merlin fork for DSL-AC68U on github: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/asuswrt-merlin-builds-for-dsl-routers.55985/
Website: https://github.com/gnuton/asuswrt-merlin.ng
Latest version: https://github.com/gnuton/asuswrt-merlin.ng/releasesMaybe this should be opened in a new thread?!

April 13, 2019 at 2:12 pm #2655@UK Sentinel: Are there interested users which like to possibly get Merlin on DSL-AC88U?
Do you have contacts to Asus and maybe they would provide as testing unit to GNUton?
Seems he did a great job on DSL-AC68U and someone can assume he would do the same for DSL-AC88U or DSL-AC3100.

April 13, 2019 at 3:20 pm #2657I can ask, but apart from RMerlins input via RT units, ASUS DSL would be fairly closed.
I will ask, but assume so many confidentiality clauses have to be signed, life is not worth living ;-)
BTW – Has @RMerlin or @ColinTaylor commented upon his work ?

April 13, 2019 at 8:38 pm #2658they even made it sticky as first post in Merlin-forum:
https://www.snbforums.com/forums/asuswrt-merlin.42/
And Merlin has been helping him, now he got it on his own.

April 21, 2019 at 8:31 am #2686@Grisu – do you have any idea ifΒ GNUton will be working on the DSL-AC88U, as this will be the one to watch – and I would even give it a go ;-)
Alas from ASUS, not heard back regarding a loan DSL-AC88U,Β so I couldΒ loan/lend him mine for a while ?

April 21, 2019 at 8:42 am #2689Sorry, but it seems there will be no way in the next future to support DSL-AC88U with Merlin-features.
They used a very different HW-architecture for this modem-router and all the work Merlin has done cannot be ported to this model, similar situation like for ROG GT-types.
A pitty but we have to forget this project for now.
I know DSL-AC88U will be the future Asus modem with much more DSL-features for faster lines – bad news for the community.

April 21, 2019 at 8:51 am #2693Such a shame, The DSL-AC88U could do with the RMerlin touch ;-)
Thanks for update, I may moveΒ this thread back into main ASUS Forum, as It is on hold, not possible ;-(
Bad news for ASUS DSL-AC88U users and community
