Have you got a USB-C to HDMI adaptor hanging around to test directly to monitor ?

Or do any of the Monitors have a USB-C port ?

Not sure if applicable for your HP, but try using the HP hardware duagnostics uefi utility to test the ports. Immediately after pressing the power button, tap the F2 key to invoke the hardware diagnostic  utility. Select Components and then USB or simular to test ports.

Or if you are feeling brave.

Just to round this off, the trip to PC World proved to be a useless affair.  I’m still not convinced that their tech guy chap really understood the issue and told me conclusively that the HDMI port was working fine.  Sigh!

Anyway – I’ve bitten the bullet and bought a new laptop.  I know a very worthy charity who will love my existing one, which still has lots of life left in it.

    Cheers
