We’ve introduced a new option to help cut down on email overload from busy topics and reduce unnecessary emails overall.

A big thank you to forum member @Grisu for helping test this new feature.

    What’s new?

You can now choose to receive just one email per topic notification, even if multiple replies are posted.

How it worked before (and still does by default)

By default, the UKTechHUB forum sends you an email every time someone replies to a topic you’re subscribed to.

This hasn’t changed and it’s still the standard behavior unless you decide otherwise.

    How the new option works

When replying to a topic, you can still tick:
“Notify me of follow-up replies via email.”

You’ll now also find a new setting in your profile:
“Notify me only once per topic until I view the topic again.”

    If this option is enabled:

    • You’ll receive one email notification per topic
    • Any further replies in that topic won’t trigger more emails
    • Notifications will resume only after you visit (open) the topic again

If this option is not enabled (default):

    • You’ll receive an email for every new reply, just like before

    Important note

If you stay logged in all the time, this won’t reset notifications on its own.

To start receiving emails again for a topic, you must actually open and view the topic page — simply being logged in isn’t enough.

Yes, I like it this way!

And that I am logged in now more than only a week.

Seems I have to log in twice a week again instead of monthly.
Something has changed in the last few weeks.

Morning @Grisu – I made some changes to overcome the password login duration issue, and have been testing since Saturday.

Can you let me know if issue remains after a testing for a week or so ?

I will write if it happens again, otherwise all ok.

After 6 days I have to login again, should be a month or even more.

Interestingly, two of my accounts also required me to log back in again a day or so ago, I have checked cookie expiration and its still 3 months from the 22nd June. I will keep watching this also over the next six days to see if this happens again.
