So one of our offspring is in their student house shortly and we are looking at maybe using 4G / 5G modem (wireless) that we can then plug in a data only SIM for internet access.
Anybody done this and this would have been ideal for an ASUS mainstream router, but they do seem to support SIM cards etc. and are more into mobile tethering for their mainstream routers.
I have seen the ASUS 4G-AX56 which is a 2×2 dual-band WiFi 6 LTE Modem Router ?

Never used anything like this. I think the draytek routers have a option of a backup if your main line goes down and I saw some USB Dongles you could plug in to give x amount of data for a year or similar.
it was ones that you buy outright and done, as opposed to pay a monthly fee for.
I’m router hasn’t locked up since my last episode with it so I’m hoping it was a one off and hence not ventured down this path any further.
