So our Renault kadjar rear brake discs are in need of changing, they have been on the car since 2016 and near there end of life.

Online, lots of options, budget options such as RIDEX and Audura or top end such as EBC or Ferodo which both are a British brake company.

So got me eyes on the BREMBO vs FEBI options, as they are both mid-range and offer good value at ECP (Euro Car Parts).

Brembo Brake Disc (Rear) = £45 each disc

Pagid Brake Disc (Rear) = £64.99 each disc

I had considered Bosch, but a lot or reviews about Bosch warped discs is not ideal.

I am tempted at the brembo brand for both discs and pads as reviews online read well and price is fair.

only thoughts are even though the Kadjar is not a fast SUV, it is heavy , kerb weight around 1500 kg. so good brakes that last are needed …

In the past we mostly had Pagid and they are well known to me.

Thanks, the Brembo and Pagid debate is interesting, whats the brake disc pad dust yield like with your Pagids, or do you a different manufacturer for disc pads ?

I ask as Brembo brake dust is supposed to be a lot, which I am not keen on but also Pagid do seem to have a fast wear rate, so I read online

Never made thoughts about that, the essential that they work well for me when dry or wet.
And never forget to put some grease on the backside making things much easier next time.

I probably would take bremo as well, if they were more common here.
You will get pros and cons for both depending who you are asking.
Lay back and keep cool, they will do their job quite similarly.

Like to do a job once and well

But yes, as back brakes which only has around 30 – 40% overall braking effect, less to worry about.

Pagid or Brembo is still my preferred choices, or maybe Bosch as they all come with an anti-corrosion coating, just need to find good offers nearer the time.

FWIW: for UK customers of EuroCarparts,  I believe Bosch and Brembo are apparently made under license through a different, maybe cost capped process for Euro car parts (ECP).

So Pagid if buying from ECP will provide (hopefully) a better quality product but at a higher cost.

I have always taken my car to the dealer and let them replace as needed.  My last car had 5 years and never changed the brakes, they still had approx. 20k miles left on them when I sold it and i’d done about 38k miles in it at that point so I was thoroughly impressed they latest that long and still had life in them.

I tend to always service cars at the dealership to keep the full service history to help when selling plus any issues you got some come back as dealer has done all the work.

Only time I take the car elsewhere is when I need to have tyres checked/replaced.

Car I have atm – the brakes wont last as long as previous car, average life expectancy is 30k tops and tbh I suspect they will need doing earlier as atm lots of city driving etc so using them more than say motorway driving.

Doesn’t time fly, finally got around to the decision about Rear Brake Discs and Pads for our Renault Kadjar.

Found a great offer for a set of Febi Bilstein discs and pads and could not resist, now just need to wait for a dry weekend to fit them.

So managed to find time to fit new Febi Rear brake discs and pads for our Renault Kadjar.

Took around 2 hours for both sides and went relatively well, only real issue I had was that the Brake Caliper cylinder/piston needed winding in to make room for the new pads and the piston rewind tool I had only fitted on two of the three lugs, minor issue really

Existing Rear Brake Disc very worn and lots of contamination:

Handy link if you are looking at replacing your Renault Kadjar (Automatic) Rear braks pads and/or discs and your vehicle is fitted with Automatic Parking brakes.

To disable your automatic parking brakes before you commence work, see below link.
