Found this handy TalkTalk page the other day that shows you the needed router settings for connecting you own router to the TalkTalk broadband.

Fibre (FTTP/H) Router Settings

This table shows Fibre Broadband settings

Setting	Value
Username	We use automated network authentication so there is no need for a username. You can leave this blank.
Password	We use automated network authentication so there is no need for a password. You can leave this blank.
Transfer Mode/Loop Encaps	PTM
VLAN ID	101
MTU	1500
DNS	Set as automatic (or similar)
Priority	0
Authentication	DHCP/IPoE

 

 

Non-Fibre (FTTC) Router Setting

Setting	Value
Username	This is your telephone number followed by  @talktalk.net. E.g. 1234567891 @talktalk.net
Password	We use automated network authentication so there is no need for a password. You can leave this blank.
VPI	0
VCI	38
MTU	1432
DNS	Set as automatic (or similar)
Encapsulation	PPP over ATM (PPPoA) using VC-MUX
Modulation Type	Auto
