UK safety regulators have issued an urgent alert after identifying a serious fire risk affecting around 85,000 integrated heat‑pump tumble dryers manufactured by Haier. The fault, caused by a potential internal short circuit, can lead to the appliance igniting during normal use.
The issue spans eight major brands, all produced by Haier:
- Baumatic
- Candy
- Caple
- Haier
- Hoover
- Lamona
- Iberna
- Montpellier
Owners are being urged to stop using the machines immediately, unplug them if possible, and check their model and serial number using the manufacturer’s online tool. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) previously halted Haier’s initial repair programme due to safety concerns, but an updated fix has now been approved.
