So from a location point of view, Express VPN is better location as they cannot be forced to provide logs, correct?
I’m tempted to sign up to Nord for 2 years as its cheaper and then potentially switch to ExpressVPN as the yearly price is virtually the same…

May 18, 2023 at 3:18 pm #24525The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is safer but…
The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is an overseas territory of the UK, but with its own legislature and code of laws.
They are also  non-members of the 5 Eyes, 9 Eyes, and 14 Eyes alliances?
Moreover, the British Virgin Islands do not have to comply with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
But the British Virgin Islands’ does have its own Data Protection Act, 2021 (DPA) to govern how public and private bodies may process personal data.
Alas, I am not familiar with that framework.

May 19, 2023 at 10:16 am #24535Hi all,
Well been looking at this but seems like prices for NordVPN 2 year deal have increased but managed to find the one for the price I saw before so I’ve signed up, the price was + VAT but still not too bad for 2 years so I’ll do it for 2 years and then re-evaluate then.
It’s set to auto renew so I’ll have to remember to cancel it. In the terms it says if i cancel auto renew, i wont be refunded for any of the remaining term so it appears if I turn it off, they will stop by current subscription so I’ll leave it on till I get there 30 day notification of renew and then set a reminder to turn it off a week before hand to allow them time to process it and not hit me with the charge.
Thanks all
Kev

June 21, 2023 at 10:47 am #25269I can recommend Nord VPN, been with them for ages, found them always reliable and well priced.
Their ‘hack’ was a lot of hot air really, a config file on a single server in Finland was exposed (not user data), and they quickly went to lengths to make sure that the same thing wouldn’t happen again. Between a mix of how they use shared datacentres and also how they deploy their vpn servers. I looked into it quite extensively at the time and was quite satisfied it wasn’t a problem and they acted very swiftly to avoid a recurrence.
I’m sure others are good services but I find Nord good so far. I like to have a few countries profiles set up in my asus router to cater for devices that can’t use a vpn app (such as TVs etc) I can flip on to cater for those as necessary.
You can get referrals for additional free time from them too.

June 21, 2023 at 12:20 pm #25273Thanks, i went with nordVPN, so far seems ok when I’ve used it although sometimes i find it blocks sites and google is always asking me to select images on a captcha page before i can even do a single search, bit annoying but oh well. Overall its ok.
